FatDED

The project FatDED aims to accelerate the industrial adoption of directed energy deposition-arc (DED-arc) produced components in demanding structural applications by focusing these objectives:

  • Advancing zero-defect manufacture via digital twins in a smart manufacturing system,
  • Promoting standards evolution for quality characterization of DED-arc components,
  • Developing best practice guidelines for fatigue design, and
  • Defining a pathway towards component qualification.

These objectives aim to develop new industry standards and practices for DED-arc technology, with a focus on reducing deficiencies, improving quality measures, and advancing the fatigue assessment of components.

The project consortium comprises a well-balanced group of experts representing all steps of the value chain including material supplier, equipment developers, research institutes, designer, component producer and end user.
